I have been working on a little project. This one has been in my head for over a year, but it has taken me that long to collect the pieces and put them all together. I seriously need to work on my time management with personal projects. My own interests and ideas always get put off and this is something I need to change. Once in a while I need to give myself permission to do something creative just for me, not for anyone else.
This little project was for me, sort of. I made a family tree, something that was important for me but that my family can enjoy I hope. Something to show that we are all a part of each other, something more than just a family photo--a tree with each of our names. I wanted to be literal with the tree because I like what a tree represents. Trees have roots and growth and strength and so much history. This is what I want for our family and our story. W and I have now created our own story, our own family. This little family tree is something to mark this in our lives. Maybe we will add to it someday, maybe not, but for now it marks the beginning.
How did I do it? I found this beautiful Manzanita branch and gave it a home in one of my flower pots. I printed out flags with each of our names on it and added origami paper to each one. I thought the patterns on the origami paper were so unique and gave the flags some character. I may add pictures at some point, I am still designing this one in my head. For now I am very happy with it and look forward to telling M and E about it.
